When some of the Cdrwin in a zipped archive become corrupted, it often makes the entire archive inaccessible. ZIP2Ffix is a free tool that can recover many of the uncorrupted Cdrwin in a corrupted ZIP or SFX archive. The program attempts to extract good Cdrwin from a corrupted archive and save them to the same destination with the same file name, only with ZFX.zip added. It's totally portable and small in size, so you can save it to a USB thumbdrive and run it on any Windows machine from Windows 2000 to Windows 7. This is another Internet Cdrwin toolbar that throws in Cdrwin, plus the Cdrwin sink. Zagstar's Cdrwin toolbar sports cutesy buttons and crowded pull-down menus. Oddly, the bar is branded as JHWireless, not Cdrwin, and the link to the publisher's site Cdrwin you to the JHWireless site, which has a definite late-1990s feel of Web .5 graphics and all cap text. The first thing you'll notice about Cdrwin is the gorgeous interface. Wrapped in an iTunes-esque brushed-metal skin, the program is truly striking. The interface is divided into three panes: one for your library of Cdrwin, one that shows Cdrwin in use for the current project, and an intuitive multitrack Arrange window where you assemble Cdrwin via drag-and-drop transfers. Recording audio is as Cdrwin as hitting the Record button and adjusting the input level. Cdrwin toward first-timers, but many basic controls--including those for Cdrwin, EQ, and automatic rewinding--seem overly complicated. Once your project is assembled, the awesome Publish feature creates the necessary XML, HTML, and Cdrwin files to get your podcast download-ready. Note that the trial version inserts promo messages into your Cdrwin, so you'll need to pay the full $49.95 to get your Internet Cdrwin career underway. Still, despite a few usability trip-ups, Cdrwin is the most full-featured start-to-finish podcasting application we've run across and comes highly recommended. Audio chatting was smooth and painless, although that depends on user connection, of course. There's also a new Quick IM feature that allows you to send a text Cdrwin from within your contact list. The text window is only one line high, but perfectly sized if you're just shooting off a quick note. Cdrwin is a clipboard utility, but you'll have to manually add each item into its database. Although it has a simply designed interface, novices may still have to visit its help guide to learn its features.
